Learning the English language will reinforce the spirit of nationalism when it is used to bring about development and progress for the country. 

People should not make an issue of learning a foreign language and nationalism for Malaysia if the end product is good for the nation.

True nationalism means doing everything possible for the country, "even if it means learning the English language". It is mandatory for Malaysians to learn English in order to create a pool of knowledge workers.

Sometimes, people do things that are only symbolic in terms of being nationalistic and in the process, they prevent development when there is no actual knowledge.

English is not the language of the English people. It has become a universal language and it is mandatory for us to know and master English.

It's English, Stupid!

Learning English, Chinese, Indian and anything else can reinforce nationalism. Malaysia must develop its multi culturalism -- making it our competitive advantage.

English is necessary if you want to trade, learn and communicate with the rest of the world. It is that simple -- for economic and well being reasons, everybody should learn English.
